Chloe is back and basking in a boho renaissance.
All thanks to the creative direction of Chemena Kamali. Some (okay many) would likely say Chloe is reclaiming its essence, perhaps even igniting a new era of ’70s nostalgia. We agree with this because we couldn’t help but notice those new Chloe bags. Yes, they have a certain air about them. These newbies certainly did a great job of transporting us back to when Chloe’s older pieces echoed from every corner.
Was this intentional? We think so. Whether or not we stand correct on that, there’s no denying Kamali delivered her vision in such a graceful way that celebrates the brand’s ethos without sacrificing originality. Here are the bags that graced the runway and immediately reminded us of Chloe’s iconic bags from yesteryears. Can you guess what those could be?
Chloe’s Fall 2024 Runway Collection
Chloe is a brand known for channeling a “Left Bank Paris Bohemian” vibe (similar to the ever-famous reference, Rive Gauche). Chloe’s Fall 2024 collection certainly didn’t fall short of bohemian fashion.
Along with the lace, capes, and gorgeous frills, in her debut runway collection, Chemena Kamali showcased a range of new bags that harkened back to the brand’s iconic pieces from previous years – even decades.
This deliberate nod to Chloe’s heritage suggests a revival of its essence under Kamali’s creative direction, and we are so here for it. It’s where nostalgia meets originality.
The show was definitely a memorable one – Kamali even took product placement to a whole new level. Front row. This is the wedge that turned heads!
The New Chloe Bags
Now, specifically, the new bags for Chloe. The new Chloe bags spotted on the runway pay homage to the brand’s iconic designs, echoing its bohemian charm.
Example one: the runway included plenty of soft-bodied hobos with oversized hardware rings. These details were carefully thought out. So much so, that they remind us of the Chloe Nile bracelet bag and the Chloe Pixie bag. Yes?
It’s crazy to think that both the Nile and Pixie bags have not even been around for a decade upon writing this. Somehow it feels as though we’ve known the bags for longer. Nevertheless, we just have to say that these are iconic Chloe handbags introduced under then creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi in 2017. It’s exciting to spot the subtle nods.
Example 2: on the Chloe runway we saw new handbag styles with multiple exterior pockets, exuding a utilitarian charm reminiscent of past Chloe favorites like the Edith satchel and the Paddington bag.
The Chloe Paddington was designed by Phoebe Philo. This bag (similar to the now popular East West silhouettes) is a nostalgic charm. Did you know only 8,000 were made when it was first released in Spring 2005? Wait, what?
Then a year later in 2006, the Chloe Edith bag was released. Gabriella Hearst re-released the Edith satchel back in Fall 2021 when she took on the role of creative director for Chloe.
