Kim Jones: Dior x KAWS

Kim Jones: Dior X KAWS

Dior’s newly appointed Menswear Artistic Director, Kim Jones, is a visionary when it comes to revitalizing brands. At his previous role as the Menswear Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton, Jones was the visionary behind the insanely successful collaboration with Supreme and brought streetwear to the brand. At Dior, Jones has partnered with KAWS (Brian Donnelly), a New York based artist widely known for his cartoonish figurines & sculptures, to show an alternative side to the brand – and KAWS delivered.

Dior’s Spring/Summer 2019 menswear runway was decorated with a KAWS floral statue, paying tribute to Christian Dior himself. It was street style heaven with sweatshirts, backpacks, sneakers, and jean jackets, all adorned with KAWS’ cartoonish reimaginations of the classic Dior logo and iconic bee. Our favorite? The first-ever men’s Saddle Bag.

This collection’s break from Dior’s more formal tradition comes at the right time. Jones explains “People just want to be more comfortable, I think. It’s not so uptight and upright anymore.”
In true street style fashion, the collection’s launch on the Dior website was met with incredible fanfare, and many of the more popular items have sold out. Not to worry! FASHIONPHILE has a few of these coveted accessories, just check out our new arrivals!
