Feeling Festive with Valentino Red
Most fashion comes in and out of favor (iconic handbags aside), but the emotional connections we form with color can last forever. Think shocking Schiaparelli pink or Pradaโs intellectual, icy green. Valentino may be associated with breathtaking couture gowns, and more recently, โrockstudโ covered accessories but thereโs really no greater association for the design house than Valentino red: a rich, deep hue embodying plenty of passion.
The house of Valentino, now led by creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, was founded by the legendary couturier, Valentino Garavani in 1959. An alumnus of Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, รcole des Beaux-Arts, Garavani created his business in the same vein of the great Parisian couture houses. He quickly rose to fame and his signature dresses dazzling in spirited Valentino red (โrosso Valentinoโ) played no small part in his early success. Valentino red dresses are still produced to this day, but the color isnโt reserved for eveningwear. โI think that a woman dressed in red is always magnificent.โ – Valentino Garavani
