The 30 Montaigne Is The Latest Dior Obsession

The 30 Montaigne is the latest Dior handbag obsession. Designed by Dior’s Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, it’s destined to be a classic with a universal appeal and an easy-to-style, easy-to-carry design.

Born in Rome, Chiuri began her fashion design career in accessories, building extensive careers at Fendi and Valentino Garavani before leaving Italy to run Dior in Paris. At Dior, her handbag prowess was never more evident than 30 Montaigne. Inspired by uniforms, the 30 Montaigne Bag may be worn as a crossbody, shoulder bag, or clutch (the series also includes the 30 Montaigne Box Bag and Clutch).

Uniform bags – which form part of a uniform and are designed with practicality in mind – were the inspiration behind it. The idea of combining practicality with clean, clear-cut aesthetics has always intrigued me and continues to inspire my work a great deal,” the designer explained in an exclusive interview with Vogue.

The 30 Montaigne bags are marked by spacious interiors of lambskin leather, hand-sculpted logos and gold-hued clasps with the “CD” initials. Every box calfskin leather or canvas bag includes an exterior slip pocket and two interior pockets for practical organization. A great feature of the Bag and Clutch is “30 MONTAIGNE” in raised, textured embossing in large letters that remain discreet thanks to monochromatic work in the same leather.

What’s more, the handbag named after Dior’s 8th arrondissement Parisian address may embody a timeless style but couldn’t be any timelier. It’s a measure of “affordable” Dior luxury with price tags all under $4,000 – and even less on FASHIONPHILE.
