David Yurman.
You know David Yurman. You’ve seen his work bedazzle the wrists and necklines of Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Adding one of these truly distinctive pieces (or perhaps another one) to your collection isn’t even a matter of “if” — just “when.”
But when it comes to high-end jewelry, fit is truly essential, not to mention highly personal. And while there are industry standards for sizing that can help, the truth is every fashion house is different.
So how do you make sure you’re selecting the right size for you (or the one you love)? It’s important, but luckily also simple!
Cable Bracelet Collections
There are so many David Yurman bracelet styles. We’re most familiar with the Cable Classics bracelet from the David Yurman Cable collection. But there are also so many others worth noting, such as Cable Spira bracelet, the Cable Classic Buckle bracelet, the Cable Cuff bracelet, and the Cable Classics Hinged bracelet just to name a few!
The Cable Bracelet Sizing Basics
If you have shopped directly from the brand before, you probably know that most David Yurman Cable cuffs are available in three key sizes, measured in centimeters:
- SMALL (5 1/8 – 5 ½” cm)
- MEDIUM (5 5/8” – 6” cm)
- LARGE (6 1/8 – 6 ½” cm)

These sizes are based on wrist measurements. If you find that you’re an in-between size, it’s best to size up, as it will likely still fit and hang nicely on your wrist. A jeweler may also be able to help you adjust it for the perfect fit.
How To Measure Your Wrist
David Yurman recommends measuring your fist rather than your wrist since that’s where you’ll be slipping it on.
You can use their printable “measuring tape”, which is likely the most accurate to their designs. A seamstress measuring tape will work (and might be easier if you have it on hand), although theirs is likely to be the most accurate for size and fit, so it’s probably worth filling up your ink cartridge to make sure you’re making the right investment.
Begin from the center of the knuckle on your index finger to the center of the knuckle on your pinky. This is the bone structure of your hand, which won’t “give” when you’re slipping a metal cuff over it — so it should be at least that wide.
Available Bracelet Width Sizes
As we touched upon before, if you’re shopping for David Yurman Cable bracelets at FASHIONPHILE you will notice many different style variations, such as the Cable Classic Buckle bracelet and the Cable Spira bracelet. Regardless of the particular style, in our descriptions, we do not include the key sizes mentioned earlier. Instead, we measure the circumference of the Cable bracelet in inches and then record the thickness of the bracelet in millimeters.
For bracelet width sizes, there are varying widths available depending on the style. Cable bracelets, in general, can range from 2.6mm which are often seen in the Cable Collectibles Buckle bracelet to 41mm often seen in Sculpted Cable Cuff bracelets. These widths refer to the thickness of the bracelets themselves, and as you can see, the Cable bracelet collections come in many sizes in between; the smaller the number (recorded in mm) the thinner it is, and the larger the number the thicker it is. Sizes 4mm – 10mm are most common.

Preventing Tarnish
Our best advice: treat any luxury piece as you would something truly precious — similar to your night care routine for your skin. Give it a touch of ceremony and due respect for its value.
David Yurman pieces are made of sterling silver and will tarnish — a natural process that occurs due to oxidation and sulfur exposure over time. You can prevent this process by gently wiping it down with clean cotton and storing it in its bag or a silk-lined jewelry holder.
Other ways to protect your cuff? Because the oils from your skin are actually good for alloy metals, simply wearing it often actually prevents tarnish. Just make sure to take it off if you’re cleaning or working with any kind of chemical substance — also be careful with perfumes for the same reason.
You can clean your David Yurman Cable bracelet with a sterling silver cleansing product or with a time-tested household method: soak in a ½ cup of white vinegar and two tablespoons of baking soda.
Ongoing Care
To keep your bracelet in beautiful condition for a long time, it is best to have it professionally cleaned once a year. You could take it to a David Yurman boutique, or any professional jeweler you trust.
